Programs and Scripts: Perl: Shopping Carts: Dansie Shopping Cart

All of the HTML output is hard-coded into the script, which you're not allowed to edit. And the author has taken pains to ensure your misery if you should try to edit it. The entire code has been formatted into one text line. It's easy enough to set up and it works well, but if you're trying to develop a site that looks good as well as functions, this isn't the way to go.

Programs and Scripts: Perl: Mailing Lists: Subscribe Me!

A good "starter" script. It is extremely simple to get up and running and requires no maintenance. But it has almost no customization options, and can not handle much of a load. Personal and Hobby sites will probably find it quite adequate, while even small businesses will need to upgrade rather quickly.

Programs and Scripts: Perl: Mailing Lists: Subscribe Me(TM) Professional

I upgraded from the "Lite" version upon outgrowing it after several months. Installation and usage are a complete breeze, and the functionality is excellent. My only complaint is that the HTML confirmation and error messages generated by the script are still largely uncustomizable unless you feel secure editing the perl itself, and where they are customizable (with header and footer files) this feature is undocumented.
