Too complicated for use under Windows NT.

Great, but I still can't force it to index cyrillic too.

The setup routine which requires shell account to the webserver failed with a "Can't create... aborting" error on NT. So I had to edit a lot of lines in the conf.pl file. Next, there was the need to run indexer.pl on the shell which indexed some HTML files inside the document root, but had problems with files in sub directories. The process terminated with a cryptic "errno 22 key 23" error. Finally, calling search.pl with the webbrowser and entering a search term did never bring up a result.

Good performance, easy to install, a great script. Unfortunately missing a precise technical description of the query syntax and model.

Wow, never seen anything install so easily. Uses little resources since it maintains a database of keywords. As to one comment below, I changed the name to cgi with no problem. The script is so good, I hired the Perlfect guys to do custom CGI for me. I would rate it an 11 if it was possible.

Seems pretty good, but the configuration (despite the utility) seemed more tricky than some of the others I've seen. (specifically, changing search.pl to search.cgi so it could run on my server.)

This script is pretty simple to set up and easy to modify to your needs. The search results are displayed in a neat way, which is great. Only backdraw: Building a full text index on 50MB takes a lot of time, so you need quite a little patience while updating large websites.
