I have been using webapps for about 6 months. I now have it installed on three of my domains. All the people who have helped create this script deserve a big hand.

WebAPP is the best PERL web portal in the universe. Because it uses a flat file database and is GNU open source and free, it is easily maintained and customized by the user. In fact, it has features that are built in for making your site exactly like you want it, everything from multiple themes and languages to mods and plugins.

This is the best flat file Perl portal in the world. Hands down! If you have a problem with this program most likely you would have a problem with anything you install. The support for this package is unmatched by anyone or anything on the web. If you are afraid of having the best, don't get it. And yes, it's absolutely free. No strings attached.

A little buggy but the user community is great and has rapid fixes. Does everything you could want but takes some serious HTML knowledge and basic scripting knowledge. I am quite impressed, and am using it on a site that gets lots of hits.

I've been trying to get WebAPP9.9 working and find it difficult to install. I'm on RedHat9. The users forum is very active, one of the quickest responces ever, less then 2 hours. That is the reason I would say take a look at WebAPP. I think I found their error, the tarball was missing a file and directory. I was told to download the ZIP file. I don't have a Windows computer so the zip is out for now.

It was very easy to install. I know nothing about CGI and I was able to get this thing running eventually. There are several issues still needing fixes and but it's free. Not up to par for use on a commercial site but hopefully they'll work out the kinks.

This is the best portal script I've tried (out of about 10 scripts). The installation took about 10 minutes and changing themes took only one click. There are lots of addons, plugins and mods. The support forums are uncomparable in responsiveness. One draw for me is 'not' needing a MySQL database.
