This script is excellent. By far the best free link indexing script available.

Very configurable and the support pages are very active helping to resolve problems quickly. Many third party add-ons for even more configuration options.

Nice script. A lot of mods for this script and support is fairly good for a free service. I'd get it again.

Reasonable price, but you have to put in a lot of time to customize the interface.

This script is sweet. I've seen quite a few implementations and have one myself. It's highly configurable. It has templates and the possibilty to further tailor it to your individual needs and wants with any of the many modifications available. They have an excellent support forum, too. I could write a book about how great this script is. I highly recommend it if you're wanting to install your own directory.

I've maintained a web-portal site for three years now and there isn't much I could add to this software's "wish list." Basically, it has everything the webmaster of a small site needs.

The script looks good for the parts that I have working. It does give you error files that you can use to fix the problems but the readme file needs a total rework because it doesnt tell you where all the files are to be placed and gets confusing when it comes to permissions.

This is a good script, doesn't like Cobalt servers. You need to edit some files. I found it difficult and time comsuming to intregrate into my web pages.

Although the author took a while to do the modifications I requested, he told me in advance he was busy, and that was ok for me. Good programmers are always busy anyway. At the end Links SQL delivered what it promised. It actually delivered more than what it had promised. For instance, this search engine allows configurations to deliver what other programmers call "intelligent query." I was also able to add a "keywords" field to Links SQL, so a visitor could find a site with a search word.

Well, it's a very good script, but if you want to really make a web directory, a flat text database is very slow, and you cant sort the data...

I found this program to be one of the most powerful free scripts on the net. Setting up does take a while, but it is certainly worth it. Any problems can usually be resolved on their online forum. Hundreds of mods available for free.

Often, you can quickly judge a script by the depth and breadth of the user community that grows up around it. Links is in a class of its own in this respect.

User: CollectonianRating:November 14, 1999

Very good script, though I wouldn't recommend a newbie make it their first install, since several areas need to be customized to the server beyond what is commented. The ReadMe needs way more information on the permissions required as well.

I am not a novice to CGI, nor a Perl guru. Links 2.0 is easy to set up, but you will need dozens of mods & fixes to enjoy it's power. It is limited in the number of links it supports. SQL handles more links, but the price is out of many web-site's range.

Wow. This is truly one of the better scripts available, but be warned that running a Yahoo-style site can take time. Installation is easy (provided you have nph support) but pages do need to be customized before deployment. Support forum and FAQs are outstanding and incorporate a large number of hacks and mods.

A wonderful script that lets you build a directory the way YOU want it. Not for beginners, but you don't need to code in Perl to set it up. More bang for the buck than 95 percent of the scripts I've seen! Bravo, Gossamer Threads!
